About MyACAPolicy

One person, one household at a time, working out what ACA health coverage really means for you.

Why I Do This

I Sit on the Same Side of the Table as You

Health coverage is one of the few things people buy without ever seeing what they are buying. You pick a plan in one sitting, then live with it for a whole year. I built this site because that felt backward to me. Before anyone signs anything, I want them to know what their premium buys, what happens the first time they walk into a doctor's office, and what the plan does when the year turns rough.

So I slow the whole thing down. I walk you through the plan the way you would actually use it. Your doctors by name. Your prescriptions by name. The visits you already know are coming. By the time you choose, the plan is not a price on a screen anymore. It is something you can picture.

You deal with one person the whole way through. No handoffs to another desk, no reading from a script. You ask a plain question and you get a plain answer, including the ones where the honest answer is that I need to look something up first.

What I Pay Attention To

The Details That Change Your Answer

Four things decide what ACA coverage costs you and what it does for you. I check every one of them against your situation instead of a typical one.

Who Your Household Is

Household on an enrollment form follows your tax return, not who sleeps under your roof. A grown child you still claim counts. A relative you do not claim usually does not. Getting this right moves everything downstream.

Which Income Figure Fits

The form asks what you expect to earn across the coverage year, which is rarely the number on your last pay stub. Seasonal work, contract work and a raise partway through all need thinking about before you type anything in.

When Your Window Opens

Open Enrollment is the door most people use, and it does not stay open long. A move, a marriage, a new baby or losing coverage at work opens a separate window, and each one comes with its own proof and its own deadline.

What Your Notices Say

Eligibility letters and plan summaries carry the answers, buried in wording nobody writes for a kitchen table. I read them with you and translate the parts that actually affect your money.

How I Work

What You Can Expect From Me

Plain Language

No Jargon Without a Translation

Coinsurance, metal tiers, spending caps. These words mean something, and you deserve to know what, in ordinary sentences. If I use a term, I explain it in the same breath and I check that the explanation landed.

Your Pace

Room to Think It Over

Coverage decisions follow you for a year, so rushing one makes no sense. Take the notes home, talk it over with the people it affects, and come back with the second round of questions. That round is usually the important one.

Straight Answers

Honest About the Limits

I will tell you when a plan is a poor fit for you, when an estimate is only an estimate, and when something depends on details only the Marketplace can confirm. Guesswork dressed up as certainty helps nobody.
